Colombo’s funniest restaurant sign

Finally got a decent picture of it from a speeding chariot. It is located in Mt Lavania on the Galle road – at the turn off to the Mt.Lavania hotel. Casserole? Is that really a romantic dish? If there’s any rationale behind this design I don’t get it ;) Also if anyone has a picture of a sign cheesier than this please post a like to it. The comment box below awaits.

Casserole is the Barry White of cuisine (Minced Meat Pie is Barry Manilow).

I have a cheesy sign to add, I took a photo of it but I can’t post in the comment section. Here along the highway in El Paso, Texas, there’s a giant billboard for DNA testing with a photo of an adorable little boy about 3- or 4- years old and the headline: IS HE REALLY YOURS? WHY NOT MAKE SURE …

ha ha yeah I pass this sign everyday and it looks weird each time.

I saw that restaurant earlier this year on the way down South. It’s sheer class! Nothing less.

Life With Buck: Not a problem just put it on your site and let me know the URL, I’ll link to it – even if its not in Sri Lanka ;)

RD & AzraelThe scary part of me is that somebody went through a lot of trouble to put up that sign (photo shoot etc) without realising the humour of it. Or maybe they did.

workisboring There has to be a vegetarian version of those dishes ;)

I see this sign on and off and the guy’s greasy hair practically dripping into the dish has put me off even considering eating there!

That’s one ridiculous sign- highly amusing nevertheless :)

I used to pass that sign on the way to and from work every day and everytime i’d see it i’d just sigh a simple “wtf” and continue on. I was curious, but not curious enough to go in there. Wonder if anyone’s actually been in!

Angel: I think Greasy Hair Casserole is their speciality
Vindi:Something for a social anthropology analysis project perhaps ;)
rastiadu: Seems this sign is one of those things that make the commute interesting while at the same time could lead (on the long term) to a phobia about Casserole..

I am at work so I can’t see the picture. What does it say?

That DNA billboard sounds hilarious. Imagine the sheer Othelloesque doubt and paranoia it would cause among male drivers :D

Yup. I often wondered why they chose to illustrate a restaurant with a name like that with a picture like that. It’s like they are circling the table, each one trying to be the first to get at their straw, in some mating ritual. It would have been much better off as a simple Coke ad!

Theena: Best see it your self ;) A picture is worth a thousand VERds

DavyC: Yes sensibilities behind that sign seems quite disconnected. Perhaps they want to attract males with the hope of bagging a woman… ;)

What about the “Jesus Christ is coming very soon” sign down there on Galle Road? This was real class when it had a Coke sign beneath it which read “Have a Coke while you wait”
