Best Sri Lankan trishaw slogan of 2010
Thu, 16 Dec, 10
I’ve seen quite a few but they have tragically disappeared into the fog of memory. The one that stands out does so only because I saw it on the way from an airport run. It was short and to the point:
No woman, no tears.
Everyone in the chariot has a good laugh. Than in a flash it was lost in the swirl of traffic before any phones could be extracted out of pockets.
Got anything to beat that? Remember, it has to be a Sri Lankan trishaw

Tuk tuk driver seems to be a Bob Marley fan.
I saw a “life is always good with a wife” slogan once
and a friend of mine saw a “love is a beautiful wrong”
doubt he actually knew what he was talking about
this is actually funny
“mama haiyen yanneth nah, issarakaranna denneth nah.
suba anaagathayak”
cracked me up. never have i wished more that i had a camera on me.
ha ha ha ha XD Those slogans are funny
I once saw, “Ahinsa oya?”! cracked me up
Cheers!
how about
“Amma raththarung
ai?
Thaththa piththala the?”
Chavie :
never thought of it that way marn!
purpleboxers: Nice to see there’s a diversity of views on the topic
Thank you for the contribs.
rannelee: curious as to what makes you think that. Either way it is hilarious
pp: :lol I bet that slogan must cool things down in the heat of traffic tempers. Or at least I hope it does.
For those needing a translations it runs
I won’t go fast, won’t let you overtake.
All the best for the future!
(yes there’s a bit lost in translation. Its funnier in Sinhala)
Me-shak:
I think that one will not translate into English
Dev:
Thank you for that one! I’ve been tired of all those holier than thou “raththarung amma” trishaws that cut me off.
Translation: Why is your mother golden? is your father brass (its a sarcastic twist on a local culture reference that is too tedious to explain)
@Cerno nothing exciting men. I was just referring the original song which says “No woman (do) No(t) cry”. But obviously in this case he means there are no tears when there is no woman. So it’s funny noh marrn
Familiarity with Bob Marley lyrics is surely a sign of a misspent adulthood.
chamira:
a scary thought. Though I in my defence the references to the Marley lyrics were dug up with the aid of all knowing power of Google
