50000+ hits 435 days later

Passed the 50000 hits mark a few days back – my rough estimate is that it was sometime around the 16th of April. The 435 day count is what the day Counter spat out. During that time I’ve banged out 234 posts. I wonder exactly how much of that 50000 figure would be left after you work in the bounce rate. WordPress.com’ stats are not THAT sophisticated to tell me. And I’m not THAT stat obsessed enough to wade through sitemeter‘s reports πŸ˜‰

So what does the “magic” number mean to me? Surprisingly nothing much. Though numbers have more of psychological impact – specially on a “free” ad-less blog like mine. I wish it did. If there is a meaning – it is a warning. Specially for those might see illusions of “success” in raw numbers.

At least this little number gives a time pressed blogger something to peck-out a post about. Not the time for a sweep biographical look over the shoulder. Or entertain delusions of grandeur. But I will admit at this – one of many – “mile” stones that its been fun. It still is. πŸ˜€

Thank you to all those who have dropped by to read and kept the conversation flowing with your comments.

Now in honour of practicality, I’ll make a local back up of this blog. High time I did.

  1. Well congrats are in order. Well blogged Cerno. πŸ˜€

And with those delusions of grandeur, please dont go off and sell the domain to the highest bidder. These random keyboard tappings, as you call them, are quite addictive. And I sure as hell dont want to go through a painful withdrawal phase. πŸ˜†

  2. mozey: Thank you though I’m not what the custom lulz is about.

Dili: Don’t worry I doubt if there’s a market for wordpress.com sub-domains πŸ™‚ Hope you are not blog addicted though!

    chaarmax:Thank you and Congrats! πŸ˜€

Angel: Thank you πŸ™‚ Are/were you in to Star Trek by any chance?

lady divineI prefer to look at it one post at a time but good wishes happily accepted πŸ™‚

Nishadha: Doesn’t feel like too much of an effort. Comes in about roughly 3 posts a week.

RD: πŸ˜€ Always encouraging to hear.

  3. Dinidu: Thank you. As for backing up – its easy to do in wordpress. WordPress.com has so far been quite reliable but backing up is never an option πŸ™‚ At least I didn’t learn the hard way – just picked it up from people who did πŸ˜‰
