Image below is of Vavuniya Special Forces HQ supposedly the target of LTTE aircraft. It is located south of the Vavuniya air base runaway, divided by a road blocked to the public. Which is how the Sunday Times article on the LTTE air strike attempt described the base’s location setting. If I’m wrong let me know. I assume the other cluster of buildings closer to the runaway (visible on Google maps satellite mode) belongs to the air force. You can get a closer view of the possible Special Forces base in Google satellite view.
Irattaperiyakulam area is south of base and occupies the bottom part of the picture.
