Here he is – cool (despite the heat), calm and majestic. Ruffled only by the breeze. Totally obvious to the crowds and unencumbered by security. I snapped this photo on the top most level of his palace on Sigirya mountain after a sweaty palmed climb in the killer heat. Behind me is a gaggle of swquacking schools kids wrecking whatever peace and quiet his majesty is seeking.
Yet there is no furrowed brow. No snarl of rage. Not even a territorial growl. Just a nonchalant squint into the glare, a mediative evaluation of the situation, then a return to the afternoon snooze.
Clearly he is a more sharing occupant of the palace than the first King.
